ENGINE 1.0 · 4 OCTOBER 2026

What we check. What we don’t.

This release targets standard self-contained MP4, MOV and M4V files up to 500 MB. It preserves file length and replaces recognised metadata with empty free space. It does not transcode.

Verification on every cleaned file

The source is rescanned before editing. Every byte outside the declared metadata ranges must remain identical, and every replacement byte must match the planned erasure. The output is rescanned; supported targets must be absent and track properties and media ranges must match.

Photo support

Release checks: 36 photo-engine assertions passed for baseline JPEG, progressive JPEG and PNG fixtures. Independent decoding confirmed identical pixels, orientation and ICC colour profiles after cleaning. These are automated tests, not physical-phone testing.

JPEG and PNG photos up to 30 MB are cleaned without re-compression. Supported EXIF, XMP, comments, PNG text and recognised embedded Content Credentials are removed. A minimal EXIF orientation tag is retained when needed; colour profiles and encoded image data remain intact. Unfamiliar metadata is kept and reported. HEIC, WebP and animated PNG are not supported yet.

Supported video metadata

C2PA and XMP UUID boxes; XMP and EXIF boxes in supported locations; selected QuickTime udta, mdir/ilst and mdta descriptive fields; creation and modification timestamps in mvhd, tkhd and mdhd. Generator terms are text hints rather than proof of AI origin.

Conservative exclusions

Unknown UUIDs and keys are retained. Timed metadata, captions and codec-internal data remain untouched. Fragmented, protected, compressed-header, externally referenced and malformed videos are rejected. Multiple sample descriptions are not supported.

Original release tests

62 checks passed. H.264/AAC MP4 and MOV fixtures were decoded before and after cleaning; stream properties, decoded frame checksums and audio checksums matched. Fixtures include injected C2PA UUID and XMP metadata, descriptive tags, timestamps and a rotated track.

Mobile compatibility

The layout is responsive, and processing uses bounded reads rather than loading a full WASM media engine. Physical iPhone Safari and Android Chrome testing has not been completed. Memory, share-sheet behaviour and save destinations vary by device. Large-size measurements below are server-side JavaScript engine tests, not phone benchmarks.

Generator coverage

No controlled export matrix has yet been completed for Higgsfield, Kling, Runway, Sora, Veo or CapCut. Test fixtures use known injected metadata to validate removal. We do not present those fixtures as genuine generator exports.
