MP4 is organised into boxes, sometimes called atoms. Media samples usually live in mdat boxes; playback information lives in moov and its descendants. The C2PA specification defines a particular uuid box for embedded provenance.
The identifier this scanner recognises
The C2PA extended box identifier is d8fec3d6-1b0e-483c-9297-5828877ec481. The scanner checks box boundaries and this identifier. It does not delete an arbitrary uuid box just because it looks unfamiliar.
Why offsets stay the same
Removing bytes can invalidate sample offsets. AI Label Off instead changes a supported metadata box into a same-length free box and zeroes its payload. Video samples remain at their original offsets.
How removal is verified
Every permitted replacement byte is checked. Every other byte must equal the source. A second container scan must find no remaining supported targets, and the parsed track properties and media ranges must match. If verification fails, no download is offered.
